Five-Day Pressure Control Appreciation Course

This five-day course is designed to provide a general understanding of how gas pressure is controlled to ensure it is delivered to consumers at the correct pressure. Aimed at managers, engineers and technicians, the course focuses on the standards and regulations governing pressure control activities, as well as the operating principles of various regulators and control configurations utilised across all pressure ranges. This course combines both classroom-based teaching and practical tuition.

Description

Overview

The five-day Pressure Control Appreciation Course is designed to provide a general understanding of how gas pressure is controlled to ensure it is delivered to consumers at the correct pressure. This course offers foundational gas industry pressure control training for managers, engineers, and technicians. It includes a combination of classroom instruction and practical tuition for personnel working in non-network maintenance roles.

The programme aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the standards and regulations governing pressure control activities, as well as the operating principles of the various regulators and control configurations utilised across all pressure ranges.

Aims

The programme aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the standards and regulations governing pressure control activities, as well as the operating principles of the various regulators and control configurations utilised across all pressure ranges.

  • The aims of this course are to provide delegates with an understanding of how pressure is managed within pipelines, networks and to supply various types of gas consumers. This will involve providing knowledge and understanding on the operation of various pressure regulators and common control systems in use.
  • To ensure delegates have a general understanding of legislation and industry standards applicable to Pressure Control activities and equipment

Objectives

On completion of this course, delegates will:

  • Understand the operating principles of pressure control equipment across all pressure ranges in use including; Regulators, Valves, Filters, Heat Exchangers, Metering Systems and Safety Devices such as Relief Valves and Slam Shuts.
  • Be aware of the requirements of industry standards and legislation with regard to Pressure Control Systems, such as: IGEM/TD/13 Edition 2, PSSR,  and DSEAR.
