High Pressure Gas Transmission Systems: Two-Day Isolation, Venting and Purging Course

Designed for managers, engineers, technicians and operators working in power generation, industry and gas supply, this course covers safety, system design, isolation, venting and purging. Participants will learn in-depth about UK gas industry legislation and best practice, and will gain hands-on experience in the isolation, maintenance and operation of gas transmission systems.

Description

Overview

The two-day course offers hands-on experience in the isolation, maintenance, and operation of gas transmission systems. Training is provided in a controlled environment, avoiding operational disruptions. The course is suitable for managers, engineers, and technicians working in power generation, industry, and gas supply.

Objectives

  • Understand the operating standards and the legislation that impacts upon owners and operators of gas pipelines and assets
  • Recognise safe working practices in hazardous areas including
  • Site entry, safe use of electrical equipment and emergency
  • Evacuation procedures
  • Be able to safely isolate, vent and purge a section of gas
  • Pipeline and plant in line with industry best practices

More Information

This five-day course is designed to provide a general understanding of how gas pressure is controlled to ensure it is delivered to consumers at the correct pressure. Aimed at managers, engineers and technicians, the course focuses on the standards and regulations governing pressure control activities, as well as the operating principles of various regulators and control configurations utilised across all pressure ranges. This course combines both classroom-based teaching and practical tuition.

More Information

This course, delivered over 12 weeks within an 18-24 month period, will provide learners with an understanding of the most common equipment and typical arrangements they will encounter in the field. Our students receive a blend of theoretical and practical training, as well as in-the-moment assessment. This style of education means that our students have first hand experience of the equipment they will work on in real life whilst at the same time receiving the underpinning theory.
