Pipeline Defect Assessment Course (PDAC)

This comprehensive course covers the essential principles of pipeline defect assessment, balancing both theory and hands-on practical training to ensure all participants are confident, capable and qualified to carry out pipeline defect assessments upon completion of the course

Description

Overview

Presented by Mike Brown, Lead Pipeline Asset Integrity Consultant at Penspen, this course will guide participants through the foundations of pipeline defect assessment and engineering principles to industry accepted methods and best practices.

Covering the theory and application of the assessment of defects such as corrosion, gouges, dents, cracks and weld defects, including repairs, the course also provides an introduction to hydrogen as associated with pipeline defects.

Objectives

  • To present methods available to assess the significance of defects detected in onshore and offshore pipelines.
  • To introduce fracture mechanics and fatigue and introduces fundamental analytical methods used to assess pipeline defects.
  • To provide practical training on case studies focused on the use of associated assessment spreadsheets.
